In the period 2008-2010, a New Water Supply System (NSAI) was implemented in Saluggia.
Compared to the previous one, the New Water Supply System takes surface water, complies with the most modern nuclear safety and seismic standards, and has a water capacity which is proportioned to the operations and emergency activities of the site.
The facility consists of two pits for surface water intake, a storage tank, an auxiliary fireproofing basin with related control and distribution sub-systems.
The creation of this facility entailed different stages: excavation of the pits, implementation of the fireproofing system and water and sanitary services, creation of a ground storage tank and a fireproofing storage basin and, finally, dismantling of the piezometric tower.
