    Project's description:
    The Sogin Group, through its subsidiary Nucleco, won a contract with the NATO Support Procurement Agency (NSPA) for radiological and environmental remediation services of the “Punta della contessa” firing range in Brindisi. The activities concern the realisation of conventional surveys for the identification of any unexploded ordnances and radiological surveys, the demolition of buildings, the removal of asbestos and, finally, the management, collection, transport, recycling and disposal of any waste present. The areas, subject to the decontamination, are on one of the Sites of Italian National Interest covering an area of approximately 6 hectares on the ground and in the stretch facing the sea.   ​

    Cemerad deposit decontamination and management of the present radioactive waste

    Project's description:
    In the Cemerad deposit, waste produced by medical, industrial and research activities was collected and stored in a deposit. Sogin has signed a Collaboration agreement with the Special Commissioner for technical-specialist support preparatory to the removal of about 16,500 drums containing special potentially radioactive waste. With a subsequent agreement, Sogin was then entrusted with the realisation of safety measures and the removal of these wastes present in the deposit with the aim of releasing the area without radiological constraints. ​

    "Galilei" reactor conversion feasibility study to temporary deposit

    Project's description:
    Sogin conducted a feasibility study concerning the conversion of the RTS-1 "Galilei" reactor into a temporary deposit for medium and low activity radioactive waste. The technical study concerned the technical-engineering analysis of the civil works of the RTS-1 nuclear reactor building, in particular with respect to the reference seismicity. ​

    Training services for radiometric measurements of the Concordia wreck

    Project's description:
    The Costa Concordia is the cruise ship wrecked on the 13th of January 2012 at Giglio Isle, then transferred to Genoa to be demolished. The project involved the training of Saipem personnel, the rental of the equipment and the drafting of the procedure to carry out radiometric measurements on metallic materials leaving the Concordia wreck site to highlight any radiometric anomalies. This activity represents a significant reference for the Sogin Group in the sector of decommissioning of vessels. ​

    Decontamination of the production site of Bussi sul Tirino

    Project's description:
    The Sogin Group, through its subsidiary Nucleco, has been involved with the project to secure a production site in Bussi sul Tirino (Pe). In particular, the project to re-industrialize the areas through the elimination of every possible source of secondary pollution was developed. ​

    Dismantling of the primary circuit and auxiliary systems of the "Galilei" reactor

    Project's description:
    The Sogin Group, through its subsidiary Nucleco, has acquired a contract as part of the dismantling of the primary circuit and the auxiliary systems of the “Galilei” research reactor at CISAM, Center for Military Applications Studies. The Sogin activities involved the radiological mapping for the decommissioning operations, the conditioning through cementation of radioactive waste and the subsequent post-characterisation operations. ​

    Site decontamination of the CISE of Segrate

    Project's description:
    The activity concerns the decontamination of the former CISE laboratories of the CESI district in Segrate, Milan. In 2013, Enel Servizi signed a tender contract with Sogin to carry out the design, the decontamination and the characterisation of the Segrate plant in relation to the buildings and site, in order to obtain their release without radiological constraints. CISE (Information and Experience Center) was a research institute founded in 1946 in Segrate, Milan, by a group of Italian private companies; until 1996 it was active as an independent institution, then it was absorbed into the research facilities of ENEL. The center specialized in the study of nuclear energy applications, carried out researches also in the fields of renewable energy and electronics. ​
