Following the flood event in 2000, which affected the conventional structures of the site (auditorium, canteen, offices), a hydraulic defence was built around the EUREX plant between 2001-2003.
The barrier is 5 metres high and 15 metres deep in the soil, thus, ensuring the plant is safe from any flood event of the near Dora Baltea River. The project, in fact, accounted for different kinds of phenomena, such as flood waves and their impacts after the past events.
The EUREX plant is the only site in the Po Valley supplied with this kind of hydraulic defence.
Due to its features, the construction of the barrier enabled the removal of the site from the list of the potential flood zones of the Po River.
