Construction of an Environmental Monitoring Laboratory

In 2005, a chemical and radio-chemical laboratory was implemented for managing the samplings of radiological monitoring programmes of the site.
The laboratory records the amount of gamma, beta and alfa emitting radionuclides in various environmental compartments such as: particulate matter, groundwater, seawater, milk, fruit, vegetables, soil, etc.
It carries out 2,000 measurements per year and it is supplied with specific instruments to monitor the level of contamination among exposed workers, as stated under Legislative Decree n. 230/1995
