Visit from the Piedmont Regional Environmental Protection Agency (Arpa) to the Trino nuclear power plant

On 6 June 2024, a delegation from
Arpa Piedmont, visited the Trino nuclear power plant, led by their General Manager, Secondo Barbero.
Guests were welcomed by Fulvio Mattioda, Head of the Facility’s Decommissioning, Donatella Tarsia Morisco, Plant Manager and Substitute for the Decommissioning Manager, and Massimo Trimarchi from the Regulatory, Institutional and Communication Directorate.
The day began with a presentation by Sogin technicians on the main deactivation activities completed, in progress and the imminent operations at the Piedmont site.
More specifically, the following steps were discussed, such as the dismantling of the vessel, the adaptation of the temporary repositories and the preparation of the metallic materials to be sent to Sweden for decontamination by smelting.
At the end of the presentation, the delegation carried out an inspection of the plant, visiting the main sites and places involved in the decommissioning operations.
The visit ended with an exchange of greetings, highlighting the success of the meeting and the importance of collaboration between Sogin and Arpa Piemonte for the safe and sustainable management of nuclear decommissioning operations.
