The National Seminar Report is now available

Now the second public consultation will begin for drafting the National Charter of Suitable Areas (CNAI)


This morning, Sogin published the Report of the National Seminar, held from 7 September to 24 November, which is now available on the websites depositonazionale.it and seminariodepositonazionale.it

This publication opens the way to the second public consultation phase defined under Legislative Decree no. 31/2010 concerning the siting procedures of the National Repository for radioactive waste and Technology Park.

In this period, lasting 30 days up to 14 January, the stakeholders can submit further observations and technical proposals to draft the National Charter of Suitable Areas (CNAI), based on the contributions received during the Public Consultation. All the materials can be submitted by following the indications specified on the website depositonazionale.it.

After the CNAI is published, Regions and Local Entities will have the chance to present their, non-binding, expressions of interest and carry out further discussions.

 
The National Seminar
The National Seminar was the first public discussion on the National Repository and Technology Park and CNAPI, the National Charter of Potentially Suitable Areas, published on 5 January 2021. The Seminar, divided into nine meetings live-streamed on www.seminariodepositonazionale.it, started on 7 September 2021 and ended on 24 November 2021. Along with the opening and closing plenary sessions, the Seminar included seven working sessions, one at a national level and six at the local level, with the participation of the Regions involved in the CNAPI drafting: Piedmont, Tuscany, Lazio, Puglia and Basilicata, Sicily, Sardinia. Many qualified professionals employed by Local Entities, Associations, Committees, workers' organizations, local trade unions, and individual citizens took part in the National Seminar. The Seminar provided a chance to discuss technical aspects of the National Repository and Technology Park and those related to workers' safety, population and environmental protection, economic benefits, and local development opportunities.
