Sogin among the participants of 2019 AIRP National Convention

Again this year, Sogin participated in the National Convention of Radioprotection which took place in Perugia from 16 to 18 October, jointly organised by the Italian Association of Radioprotection (AIRP) and by the Regional Authority for Environmental Protection of Umbria (ARPA Umbria), with the patronage of the Umbria Region and the Municipality of Perugia.
AIRP Conference is an annual event organised to promote the meeting and dialogue between technicians and experts on issues related to the methods and techniques used for measuring radiation protection, as well as the optimisation of professional exposures and the radiation protection of the population and the environment in the healthcare and industrial sector.
Sogin shared its story about radioprotection, characterisation and radiological monitoring in the context of decommissioning projects for nuclear plants, proposing various scientific contributions in the form of reports of oral communications.
Namely, the topics covered concerned health physics; dosimetry and radiation protection, deepening the project to dismantle the reactor of the Garigliano nuclear power plant; environmental radioactivity, with a focus on the application of ISO standards in the radiological characterisation and remediation of potentially contaminated sites and on the measuring procedures of the materials generated during the dismantling.
