Sogin recognised at the 2024 Energy Earth Awards

24 July 2024

"Sogin is a proud recipient of the Energy Earth Awards, which recognise the role and value of the operational, engineering and theoretical skills of everyone in the Company. In the decommissioning of Italian nuclear power plants, which were never designed to be dismantled, Sogin was able to devise strategies that converted a linear process into a circular process".

The CEO of Sogin, Gian Luca Artizzu, , made these comments on the "environment" award received at the second edition of the Energy Earth Awards - EEA, held on Saturday 20 July at the Hotel Santavenere in Maratea (Potenza).

The Energy Earth Awards, promoted and organised by the Energy Earth Awards Association - chaired by Francesco Marotta -, with the patronage of the Basilicata Region, the American Chamber of Commerce and the city of Maratea, recognise Institutions, companies and managers for their commitment to seeking a balance that combines energy production and environmental protection. Specifically, Sogin was recognised "for its contribution and commitment to the development of skills in the energy, nuclear and environmental protection fields, with the ability to preserve the unique and fundamental know-how for the country and the challenges of tomorrow".

Other winners included the Minister for the Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, and the Minister for Institutional Reforms and Regulatory Simplification, Elisabetta Alberti Casellati.

The ceremony, hosted by Alessandro De Angelis, Barbara Carfagna and Mavina Graziani, was attended by numerous guests, including the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Edoardo Rixi, the President of the Basilicata Region, Vito Bardi, and the Mayor of Maratea, Cesare Albanese.

Gian Luca Artizzu also reminded the public of the common goals shared by Sogin and the Basilicata Region, which hosts the Itrec-Trisaia site in Rotondella, , in the field of monitoring and environmental protection, which in Basilicata alone, involves a daily commitment from about sixty people in the Company.
