Sogin at the Inno4graph International Symposium

26 October 2023

On 19 October, the Inno4Graph (INNOvative tools FOR dismantling of GRAPHite moderated nuclear reactors) project concluded with an international symposium in which Sogin took part as a European project partner.

Organised at the EDF Industrial Demonstrator in Beaumont-en-Véron (France), it was a day full of sharing opportunities and exchanges on the results of the project, which brought together almost 120 international participants.

Launched in 2020, Inno4graph is a European project supported by the European Commission as part of the H2020 programme. It aims at developing and sharing innovative dismantling methods and tools for European graphite-moderated reactors such as the one at the Latina nuclear power plant managed by Sogin.

Besides Italy, the project involved 12 other European partners. Sogin was involved in the development of a prototype system to assess the state of preservation of the graphite blocks in the reactor core of the Pontine power plant.

At the Symposium, at the presence of representatives of the European Commission and the International Atomic Energy Agency, results were presented to demonstrate the feasibility of decommissioning activities for graphite-moderated reactors.

For Sogin, the Project Manager of the project Gianluigi Migliore participated and, together with Annafrancesca Mariani - Director of the National Repository and Technology Park, presented the company and the results obtained.

Also present were Valerio Piscini, who animated the discussion in the exhibition space, and Federica Pancotti and Paolo Gui, members of the project team. In the days leading up to the Symposium, the Technical Meeting Addressing Irradiated Graphite in Decommissioning Project convened by the IAEA was also held in Chinon and saw the contribution of Gianluigi Migliore.
