Sogin at the Forum on Stakeholder Confidence

13 November 2023

Once again this year, Sogin participated in the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency's (NEA) Forum on Stakeholder Confidence (FSC), now in its 24th edition, and in the National Workshop, organised in Cincinnati (USA), together with the Department of Energy (DOE).

As a representative of Italy, this participation allows the Company to share in the international arena experiences and developments in guidelines and practices for managing relations with stakeholders with regard to radioactive waste management and storage, disposal repositories and also decommissioning and legacy management. One of the highlights of this year's event was a visit to the Fernald Preserve (Ohio), the former uranium processing plant which, after being cleaned up, is an example of environmental reclamation and monitoring - with an educational centre and museum - achieved with the active involvement of local communities.

A few days ago, an FSC analysis on ‘The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on stakeholder engagement practices’ was also published, after being drafted by Sogin together with OECD/NEA and Andra. The document can be found here.
