Sogin at iWeek's second day

12 October 2023

Sogin took part in the fourth edition of iWeek iWeek (Intelligence Week) entitled "Nuclear, can it be done?", which concluded with a second event in Rome at the Banca Finnat headquarters in Palazzo Altieri. It provided an opportunity for confrontation between the major players in the energy sector and the Italian nuclear compartment.

The second day of the initiative, promoted by V&A - Vento e Associati and Dune Tech Companies, was held in Rome, after the first event on 5 October in the Pirelli Room of the ICE Agency in Milan, and saw the participation of the Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Matteo Salvini, the Italian Minister of the Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, and the Italian Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso.

The day consisted of speeches and panel discussions that addressed various topics, from nuclear geopolitics and the changing Italian and European energy portfolio to new technologies such as small modular reactors and micro modular reactors.

Among the speakers was the President of Sogin, Admiral Carlo Massagli, who said:

“Sogin guarantees safety, health and environmental protection in nuclear decommissioning, applying standards that are among the most stringent in the world and under the constant control of various bodies and institutions." "This, combined with the professional expertise of our highly-qualified technicians", added Chairman Massagli, "allows us to contribute to the development of the nuclear sector today, as confirmed by the recent renewal of the Agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency that designates Sogin as a Collaborating Centre”.

The proceedings, introduced by Andrea Vento, CEO of iWeek and V&A - Vento e Associati, Stefano Donati, Vice President of iWeek, and Arturo Nattino, CEO of Banca Finnat Euramerica, were concluded by Emanuele Marcianò, President of iWeek and CEO of Dune Tech Companies.

Also present in the audience was Sogin's CEO, Gian Luca Artizzu, who, as part of iWeek, spoke at the session in Milan, in particular at the round table entitled "The Italian safety and decommissioning supply chain".
