Sogin at DEM 2021

Sogin took part in DEM 2021 “International Conference on Decommissioning Challenges: Industrial Reality, Lessons Learned and Prospects”​, held in Avignon from 13 to 15 September.

The event, organized by SFEN (Société française d'énergie nucléaire) together with Oran, Wesinghouse and CEA, was divided into 11 high profile technical sessions, which also saw the involvement of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) and the European Commission.

Sogin attended session 03, entitled "Development of New D&Ds' Technologies", with talks by Federica Pancotti, Head of Technological Innovation, on the theme Reclamation of an Underground Storage of Radioactive Waste - Irreversible PIT 7.1 and Gianluigi Migliore, Head of Graphite Project Development, on Graphite management for decommissioning of Latina NPP reactor. Also present at the session were Francesca Onofrio and Valerio Piscini, Design Team Leaders of the Garigliano and Latina plants, respectively.

Finally, the Company attended two sessions: one dedicated to Buildings and Sites Rehabilitation and the other to Material and Radioactive Waste Management.

Together with Sogin, more than 200 representatives of scientific, research, regulatory bodies, and companies operating at the international level in decommissioning and radioactive waste management attended the Conference.
