Sogin and the Piacenza Regional Centre at the Politecnico di Milano sign a university teaching collaboration agreement

This morning at the Piacenza Campus of the Politecnico di Milano, Belinda Sepe, Head of the Administration, Resources, Systems and ICT Directorate of Sogin, and Dario Zaninelli, Vice Chancellor of the Piacenza Regional Centre of the Politecnico di Milano, signed a university teaching collaboration agreement as part of the Master of Science in "Sustainable Architecture and Landscape Design".

The signing of the agreement took place during the inauguration of the 5th edition of the architectural and landscape design workshop Landscape Of[f] Limits, which will take place from 2 to 13 September in Piacenza at the campus of the Politecnico di Milano's Regional Centre.

The course, aimed at students of the faculties of Architecture of Italian and foreign universities, will examine the landscape context of the Piacenza area which, among other things, hosts the Caorso nuclear power plant.

The event, presented by Sara Protasoni, coordinator of the "Sustainable Architecture and Landscape Design" Master’s Degree, was attended by, among others: Francesco Brianzi, Councillor for Youth Policies, Universities and Research of the Municipality of Piacenza; Mario Magnelli, Vice-President of the Piacenza and Vigevano Foundation; Emilio Tappani, member of the Board of Directors of the Board of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects and Curators of the Province of Piacenza.

The agreement has three objectives: to share knowledge about the history of nuclear power plants in the architectural and landscape context, with the participation of lecturers from Sogin's Radwaste Management School during the workshop; an educational visit by approximately 70 participants at the Caorso (Piacenza) nuclear power plant; and scientific support to Sogin in the drafting of projects for the industrial development of existing infrastructure. The papers compiled during the workshop will be presented at the Piacenza Centre of the Politecnico di Milano on 13 September on the final day of the course.

The Workshop takes place under the patronage of the: Emilia-Romagna Region, Province of Piacenza, Municipality of Piacenza, Po River Basin Authority, Coldiretti Piacenza, Confindustria Piacenza, Piacenza Reclamation Consortium, Piacenza and Vigevano Foundation, Board of Architects, Planners, Landscapers and Curators of the Province of Piacenza.
