On 12 September, Gian Luca Artizzu, the CEO of Sogin, and Chang Lak Kim, Executive Dean of Kings (Kepco International Nuclear Graduate School) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aimed at exchanging information and experiences and developing nuclear training programmes.

The three-year agreement aims to achieve three objectives:

  1. Knowledge development: strengthening the training of technical personnel, from professional courses to advanced university master's degrees, with a specific focus on the dismantling of nuclear facilities and radioactive waste management.
  2. Sharing of experiences: to promote mutual knowledge and direct learning of best practices through meetings between staff from the two Companies.
  3. Development and implementation of programmes: creating and implementing educational programmes and workshops on nuclear-related issues.

The agreement was formalised after four days of meetings between representatives of the two companies, both Collaborating Centres of the International Atomic Energy Agency, during which the Korean delegation had the opportunity to visit the Latina nuclear power plant, as well as the OPEC and IPU facilities and the Nucleco headquarters and laboratories located in the Casaccia Research Centre, on the outskirts of Rome.
