Sogin e IAEA: “Pilot Nuclear Decommissioning Management School” a Roma

The “Pilot Nuclear Decommissioning Management School", took place in Rome from the 20th to the 24th of October. The initiative, promoted within the scope of the Collaborating Center and Sogin and the International Atomic Energy Agency, has seen 43 sector experts participating.

The initiative made it possible to explore the main organizational, managerial, and technical challenges related to the management and decommissioning of nuclear facilities, analyzing solutions and strategies to ensure safe and sustainable processes.

In addition to lectures and group exercises, the programme included a visit to the Latina nuclear power plant, where Sogin showcased the technologies used in decontamination and dismantling processes.

The works were opened by institutional greetings from , Olena Mykolaichuk, Direttrice Director of the Nuclear Fuel Cycle and Waste Technology Division at theIAEA, Gian Luca Artizzu, CEO of Sogin, Nicola Ippolito,Director of the Nuclear Division of the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security (MASE), and Laurent Jerrige, Director of Nuclear Decommissioning and Waste Management at the JRC.

For the teaching, academics and industry experts were involved, including Giuseppe Zollino from the University of Padua and Fabrizio Trenta, a manager in ISIN, alongside a team of Sogin technicians with various experiences and roles, composed of Enrico Bastianini, Stefano Cardillo, Paolo Gui, Gian Marco Mura, Paola Negrini, Francesca Onofrio, Federica Pancotti, Valerio Piscini, Luca Ricci, Licia Ripamonti, Carlo Rusconi and ​​Elisa Zeno.

The training week ended with some closing remarks and the presentation of certificates by Belinda Sepe,Director of Administration, Human Resources, Systems and ICT, and Flaviano Bruno, Director of Engineering and New Technologies.

La Pilot Nuclear Decommissioning Management School represented a moment of international exchange and collaboration in the field of nuclear decommissioning.
