Initiative promoted for the European Researchers’ Night
Registration only on sogin.it, closing on Sunday 22 September
Sogin today opened registrations on sogin.it to
sogin.it to visit the Sogin and Nucleco nuclear facilities at the Enea research centre, on the outskirts of Rome, on Friday 27 September.
The event is part of the programme promoted by the Company on the occasion of the European Researchers' Night, which this year, is dedicated to the ninety years since the death of Maria Skłodowska Curie, a pioneer in the field of radioactivity.

There will be two tours, each lasting about an hour: the Sogin tour inside the hot cells of the Opec-1 plant, now being decommissioned, where the first Italian research activities on nuclear fuel elements were carried out, and where some of equipment used in decommissioning activities is on display; the tour in the laboratories and plants of the subsidiary Nucleco, where the radioactive waste produced by the dismantling of Italian nuclear facilities and where the activities carried out on a daily basis in the fields of medicine, industry and research are managed.
For visitors, this provides a unique opportunity to witness scientific experiments and demonstrations and learn about the work that Sogin and Nucleco technicians carry out under maximum safety conditions, in managing nuclear plants and radioactive waste, from their storage in temporary repositories to their final destination at the National Repository.

The sightseeing tours will host a total of 150 people. To participate, you must register on www.sogin.it no later than Sunday 22 September, on a first-come first-served basis. To ensure broad-based participation, a single route can be booked by choosing one of the scheduled time slots between 16.00 and 20.30, entering your personal data and uploading a copy of your identity document. Minors aged six and older are also permitted on the Nucleco tour if accompanied by an adult.
During the European Night of Researchers’ events, on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 September, Sogin will also be exhibiting at the NET Village at the Città dell 'Altra Economia in Rome, as part of the
NET - ScieNcE Together project, which the Company subscribes to together with leading public research bodies and universities in Italy to disseminate a culture of science.

The exhibition of scale models of the reactor and turbine building at the Caorso power plant (Piacenza), will show participants how a nuclear power plant operates and how it is safely dismantled. Games and demonstrations will help in the discovery of radioactivity.
Sogin and Nucleco's renewed participation in the European Researchers' Night confirms the Group's commitment to scientific know-how and the dissemination of knowledge among the public.
