On the occasion of
World Day for Health and Safety at Work, the Sogin Group chose to light up the
Caorso (Piacenza) nuclear power plant in orange to draw attention to the importance of prevention, health protection and safety in the workplace.
LThe initiative started last night with the progressive orange "dyeing" of the reactor building, nicknamed "Arturo", at the Piacenza nuclear power plant. In addition, the Group will again this year,
hold internal discussions dedicated to the protection of workers during dismantling and waste management activities. The workshop, aimed at the various Sogin and Nucleco roles involved in safety, will take place in the classrooms of the Radwaste Management School (RaMS) at the Caorso power plant and will focus on the management of radiological risk, as required by Italian Legislative Decree 101/2020, in relation to the specific technical risks outlined by Legislative Decree 81/2008.
World Day for Health and Safety at Work, which is celebrated on 28 April every year, was established in 2003 by the
International Labour Organization (ILO) to raise awareness and reflect on the culture of prevention in professional contexts.
The measures adopted by Sogin in the field of health and environmental protection during everyday activities, specifically, in safely maintaining nuclear facilities, in decommissioning and in waste management are aligned with international standards, within the
Integrated Management System- which includes Occupational Safety - certified according to UNI EN ISO 9001, UNI EN ISO 14001 and UNI ISO 45001 standards. This systemic approach, together with
ongoing training through the RaMS, not only guarantees the safety of workers, the population and the environment, but also demonstrates a commitment to the continuous improvement of their performance.
Through initiatives such as these, the Sogin Group reaffirms its contribution to achieving
the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda, in particular, Goal 3 - Health and well-being - and Goal 8 - Decent work and economic growth.
