Vercelli Prefecture: new external Emergency Plan for Eurex

The press conference for the presentation of the
new external emergency plan for the Eurex plant in Saluggia was held today at the Prefecture of Vercelli.
The objectives of the plan, drawn up and approved by the Prefecture of Vercelli, are: to
guarantee effective emergency management; to ensure the
monitoring of environmental matrices and food during the emergency; to implement the necessary measures to
protect public health; to ensure the
public information on the evolution of the event and on
rules of behaviour.
Along with Sogin, the representatives of the National Inspectorate for Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection (ISIN), the Provincial Command of Vercelli Fire Brigade, Arpa Piemonte, and the Mayor of Saluggia, among others, participated in the meeting.
The previous planning did not take into account the progress of the decommissioning activities on the site and no longer corresponded to the incidental sequences currently conceivable, nor to the updated institutional organisational framework, which, for various reasons, intervene in the event of an emergency.
