Drill by the Garigliano Fire Brigade

On Friday 31 May, a drill coordinated by the Fire Brigades of the Caserta Provincial Command took place at the Garigliano power plant (Sessa Aurunca), in compliance with the provisions of the Interprovincial External Emergency Plan.
The objective was to test the procedures and equipment needed to deal with emergency situations relating to the management of radioactive waste.
The drill involved personnel from the Teano detachment and the Command’s N.B.C.R. (Nuclear Bacteriological Chemical Radiological) unit. Specifically, a fire was simulated inside one of the radioactive waste repositories, containing material waiting to be sent for recovery and recycling.
This type of activity is essential to maintaining a high level of preparedness and readiness by the emergency teams, helping to ensure safety in the nuclear sector.
