Sogin joins World Fibromyalgia Day

On the occasion of World Fibromyalgia Day, Sogin last night lit up the reactor building at the Garigliano nuclear power plant (Sessa Aurunca, Caserta), now undergoing decommissioning.
A tangible gesture of solidarity and support for the initiative promoted by associations of patients and doctors affected by this syndrome, including the United Fibromyalgia Committee, which asks citizens, companies and institutions to light up streets, squares, buildings and monuments with purple, the symbol of the disease.
The objective is to raise public awareness of this syndrome, which has yet to be recognised at legislative level, to promote scientific research, improve diagnosis and treatments, and attain a positive cure for patients.
Fibromyalgia is difficult to diagnose and has numerous symptoms, including: widespread musculoskeletal pain, chronic fatigue, insomnia, headaches, irritable bowel, mental confusion, depression and anxiety. This condition has a negative impact on the quality of life, resulting in suicide in the most serious cases.
World Fibromyalgia Day was established on the birth date of Florence Nightingale, the "lady with the lamp", considered the founder of modern nursing care, who is thought to have suffered from fibromyalgia herself.
