09 December 2025

Strengthened commitment to the circular economy and enhancement of skills

The Sogin Group's 2024 Sustainability Report is now available on the sogin.it and nucleco.it websites, testifying to the ongoing commitment to safety, sustainability and innovation in the nuclear sector and in environmental protection.

Published since 2006 and drafted in accordance with the highest international reporting standards, the Sustainability Report serves as the primary tool through which all stakeholders can fully and transparently learn about the Group's activities.

The document illustrates the Company's economic, social and environmental (ESG) performance, including its contribution to eleven of the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations 2030 Agenda.

Thus, Sogin renews its commitment to promoting informed opinion based on scientific evidence, fostering a deeper understanding of nuclear issues, which are once again at the centre of public debate.

In 2024, the Group consolidated its path of continuous improvement, strengthening actions to support the circular economy strategy. The most significant initiatives include the reuse of existing buildings, the reduction of waste production, the increase in the recycling rates of materials produced during dismantling, the minimisation of radioactive waste.

The overall goal is ambitious: to recover over 95% of materials from decommissioning activities, in particular iron and concrete. At the same time, the Group introduced ESG assessment criteria in the tender procedures and in the supplier qualification processes. Furthermore, as confirmation of its commitment to the energy transition, in 2024 the carbon footprint was reduced thanks to the decision to procure only electricity produced from certified renewable sources.

The more than one thousand people who make up the Sogin Group represent a pool of distinctive skills within the national industry and the territories in which it operates, thus generating shared value. The achievements in 2024 are the result of specialist know-how consolidated over the years and constantly updated through dedicated training courses, including those promoted by the Radwaste Management School (RaMS), confirming the desire to invest in professional growth, skills transfer and making these available to the entire Italian nuclear and industrial sector.
