Gian Luca Artizzu, CEO of Sogin: "ready to run the new nuclear facilities"

The "Energy Transition and the Nuclear Industry 2025” conference was held this morning in Milan, organised by Sole 24 Ore. The conference was attended by institutional representatives, experts and leaders in the energy sector, including Sogin, represented by the CEO, Gian Luca Artizzu, who spoke at the round table: "The Italian nuclear supply chain, new business models for the production of energy from the atom".
 
 

​ In his presentation, Gian Luca Artizzu reiterated that "we are in an energy scenario where nuclear power can play a key role alongside other sources and Sogin has consolidated know-how in the sector".
 
“We are the only IAEA “Collaborating Centre” company in Italy – continued Artizzu -  and we are ready to play our part, making our skills in the operation of plants available to the country, which will become immediately usable when we return to nuclear " .
 
"A commitment that we have also undertaken with our Training School  - continued the CEO of Sogin - a centre of excellence in the transmission of a nuclear culture where we will be training 40 Italian and foreign students within the next year, on decommissioning and the new technologies in the nuclear field".
 
"Sogin intends contributing to strengthening the Italian nuclear supply chain - added Gian Luca Artizzu - essential for a mature system that has the ability to make long-term decisions, with a stable and coherent regulatory framework to promote investments. Nuclear – he concluded - is not only an energy issue, but a pillar for the economic and competitive future of the country".   Together with the CEO of Sogin, Gian Luca Artizzu, the round table was also attended by some of the main players in the Italian energy industry, including: Ansaldo Energia, Edison, Eni, Fincantieri, Maire, Newcleo and Rina​​​.​
